Cape Otway Lightstation
Leading Lights Cape Otway Lightstation – The oldest surviving lighthouse in mainland Australia, and the centrepiece of a precinct rich in wildlife, maritime history and unbeatable ocean views. Open daily from 9am, last entry 4:30pm (fees apply).
Lighting The Way In 1846, the local Gadubanud people helped guide Charles Latrobe on his third and successful attempt through the Otways to reach Cape Otway and scout out a lighthouse location. In years to come, the lighthouse helped safely guide shiploads of European settlers to Australia. Today, visitors to the Great Ocean Road region can explore the delights of a coastline of lighthouse locations and also discover the fascinating indigenous cultures of the people who have belonged to these landscapes for thousands of years.
Experience Ancient Cultures Cape Otway Lighthouse Precinct Delve into a many-layered tour and interpretation of the culture of the Gadabanud, or people of the King Parrot language, who belong to the forests and coastline of Cape Otway.
The Treetop Walk is a one hour rainforest walk experience, that is approximately two kilometres in total and features a 600 metre long and 30 metre high steel structured treetop canopy walkway, that takes you right into the treetops. It is the longest and tallest walkway of its type in the world and includes a thrilling cantilever.
The Zipline Eco-Tour is a two-and-a-half hour, fully guided experience including training and simulation, eight cloud stations, six flights and two suspension bridges. The ticket price also includes the world famous Treetop Walk. This is the only zipline tour in Victoria.
